World Fair Trade Day 2007 in Tokyo, Japan

Thanks to the great awareness of Fair Trade in Japan and to People Tree’s growing profile in the fashion world, this year’s World Fair Trade Day was a resounding success.
The event attracted overwhelming support from the public and from some high profile sponsors. Mitsubishi Real Estate provided the impressive venue inside Marubiru. Aveda transformed our Fair Trade models with superb styling and with Tatami and Vogue Japan brought a new edge to People Tree’s collection, Ecru fully satisfied our cravings for great vego food and Fair Trade coffee. Representatives of People Tree’s partners in India were here too. They shared stories of empowering women with the social skills to become independent and of saving children from child labor.
Sakura charmed everyone with her engaging music. She also spoke with Safia about how relevant the principles of Fair Trade have become to her since the birth of her son.
The Fair Trade market in the entrance lobby was bustling. It brought together 5Fair Trade organizations working in Japan. On sale were a variety of delicious foods and beautiful clothes and handicrafts. As it was doing so outside ,the sun shone on World Fair Trade Day in Tokyo this year.
