A Report on World Fair Trade Day Celebration By RTU

　On 16-03-2007 the World Women’s Day was observed at Ganesh Mahal’ Batlagundu. Batlagundu is a big market centre. More than 800 women Self Help group members and village leaders participated. The women conducted various cultural programmes namely song, dance, drama etc. A few eminent speakers including the Block Development Officer (BDO), and a woman social worker spoke on the occasion.

　The theme of World Fair Trade Day was the main focus during the function. To create awareness about Fair Trade, the 9 standards of Fair Trade were explained to the participants by the Manager of Industries unit RTU, the organizer of women groups, and the Director of RTU. The important role the women in Fair Trade was the topics of their speech.

　The women leaders expressed satisfaction about the programe and thanked RTU for giving them a chance to know clearly about World Fair Trade Day. They suggested that the WFTD should be celebrated every year with more participants.
