peacock bag Jute is a natural fiber which is bio-degradable and eco-friendly. The cultivation of Jute is well suited to Bangladesh's monsoonal climate and has been an integral part of Bengali culture for centuries. Furthermore the Jute plant grows very quickly, maturing over 4 to 6 months. Allowing farmers to grow other organic food crops.
CJW are now producing organic Fair Trade Jute which will replace the conventionally farmed Jute they are currently using. By buying these products you are directly supporting the development of an organic Fair Trade jute supply chain in Bangladesh. You are also providing safe and accessible jobs to marginalised people and protecting our shared environment.
These products are produced by hand. Choosing hand production over mechanised production significantly reduces CO2 emissions. It also provides asset poor people living in remote areas with local income earning opportunities.

The money raised from the sale of this product will go towards developing the cultivation of organic Fair Trade Jute and capacity building and awareness raising projects at CJW. CJW emphasises the importance of environmental protection in their awareness development program, which CJW members take part in.
