Fair Trade Spirit Supports Us Through Difficult Times

Peter Wahome
Project facilitator
Crafts of Africa
www.craftofafrica.org

“When asked to contribute a message for WFTD, what came into my mind is the need to share with you a WFTD message that is relevant or that reflects the current realities facing Kenyan producers as opposed to an abstract message. We need to observe that:

When major social, economical and political forces threaten the poor grassroots or artisan communities [this has been the case here in Kenya since December 27th 2007 when post election political unrest rocked the country] it is our fair trade friends and partners that have shown the most concern and given us support.

So on behalf of all of us here at Crafts of Africa, I would like to say long live the fair trade spirit, long live fair traders. We value you as much as you value us. God bless you all!!!"
