Craft Aid started humbly in 1982, the aim of the company is to provide employment to disabled people in Mauritius. To-day Craft Aid employees 170 people, of which nearly 40% are disabled. Besides employing disabled people and providing community development, we also care for the environment.

The world is witnessing many natural calamities such as climatic changes, water contamination, air pollution, deforestation, widespread melting of snow and ice, rising sea levels and more. The major factors that have contributed to this are mainly the increase of industries, deforestation, the use of fertilizers and pesticides, etc...

Now, human beings are more conscious about these problems and steps are being taken to stop this situation, but unfortunately most will never be able to be completely reversed. At Craft Aid, most of our raw materials are environment friendly and our production process combines the interconnected goals of poverty reduction, food security and environmental sustainability. Our textile products are made of organic cotton, our cards are made of recycle papers and natural flowers and our screen-printing department uses water based ink.

We see the theme “Fair Trade + ecology” as an incentive to improve our environment and to reduce the negative impacts that we have had on environment. This will increase people's interest in how industries and farming can become safer and cleaner for the environment.
