Inclusion of ecology in fair trade is a positive and encouraging step taken in order to show our concern towards our mother earth Clean and better environment is directly related to a healthy living. Fair trade encourages better environment practices and responsible method of production. Eco ? system is an interrelated aspect. Without a balanced ecosystem both the humans as well as nature is affected. With global warming on the rise, serious dangers pose to the lives of living beings. All efforts should be towards reducing the Green House Gases and carbon footprints. William Shakespeare has rightly said - One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. So as part of the ecological family let us do our bit to promote ecological justice while promoting fair trade.

At Asha Handicrafts, we plant over 700 trees all over India every year. The plantation drive is concentrated at our 8 main production centres. The trees are to be planted in various production units, producers’ homes, artisans’ homes and even in artisans’ communities, thus encouraging artisans’ and individuals in their communities to act responsibly towards the environment. Each plantation drive will be preceded by a short program with local Members of Parliament and influential social figures present.

To further the reach of this project we plan on displaying sign boards and small banners at the specified locations as a way of spreading the message of the project which is that each and everyone of us contribute to global warming and climate change and that each and everyone of us also possess the power to reverse that climate change or global warming by being responsible global citizens and doing something as easy as planting a single tree.
